Surfacing Minke Whale

Have you ever had one of those days? A day that you can recall the smell, the sounds and feel of the place? This was one of the best days of my life. We were out in the North Atlantic in a 17-foot open boat. Darryl was our guide. A local crab fisherman who in his words had "spent way more time in a boat than on land". I believe him. He could "smell" whales. He could also read the weather. We were so far out we could no longer see the mainland. He looked up at what looked to me to be clearing skies and said "we have to go". So go we did. We pulled into a small harbour with a cabin. As soon as we tied off the boat, it started to rain. Once we were comfortably in the cabin (belonging to a friend of his) it really started to rain. We feasted on smoked Arctic Char, Caribou steaks and salads. I'm getting hungry just writing this.
