Caribou Calf

I really enjoy watching wildlife. While Ron is clicking away with the camera I'm more apt to just be studying the animal itself - noticing its habits, how it moves, what it is eating and how it interacts with other animals. Later it will be part of my job to catalogue the images. So I'll also take note of where we are and anything else that might be useful to record in the image's metadata. Often we find wildlife right along the road and Ron will use the van as a blind and shoot from the open window. If he gets out to get a better angle I might continue watching from inside the vehicle to avoid scaring his photo subject away. On the day he photographed this caribou in northern British Columbia he not only got out of the van but also disappeared with the small herd into the woods. Rather than trying to find him I thought it better to stay with the van trusting that eventually he would return with many new images.
