Burrowing Owl

Lori and I stopped into the Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre in Moose Jaw. We asked if there were any owls in a natural setting that were accessible enough to photograph. It's not possible to get close enough to the wild ones nesting near the centre without disturbing them. But they told us about a pair that had a burrow in a new residential subdivision. We followed their directions and found the birds could be photographed right from the street. A local told us that construction was halted and the lot fenced off so that the birds could raise their young undisturbed. I shot in the afternoon and the following morning. We returned a couple of years later and the birds were gone and construction had continued.
