Paddling into the Cariboos

Lori paddles at the front of a rented canoe. We are on Clearwater Lake in Wells Gray Provincial Park, British Columbia paddling toward the Cariboo Mountain Range. The lake was so calm in the morning. There was a haze from a forest fire. Forest fires have become common events in B.C.'s interior due to trees killed by mountain pine beetles. We spent the day out on the lake. Paddling back to our campsite in the late afternoon, the wind came up. It was the warmest wind I have ever felt. We struggled for a couple of hours before finally making it back to drop off the canoe.
