Sabine Island, Georgian Bay

There is just something about the smooth pink granite found on the east side of Georgian Bay that makes it pleasing to the eye. To me the area known as the "30,000 Islands" is probably the most scenic area in the Province of Ontario. But this area is noted for more than its great beauty. The area running north from the Severn River up to and including French River Provincial Park is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve - called the Georgian Bay Littoral. The reserve contains over 100 species of animals and plants that are considered at risk in Canada and/or Ontario.
